The story behind EssayStory.
EssayStory is a focused workspace for writing, versioning, and reviewing college admission essays. We built it because the single most important piece of an application — the personal essay — too often lives as a tangle of Google Docs, suggestion bubbles, and chat threads.
What we believe
- Versioning is first-class. Every draft matters. Nothing should be lost in a sea of "Untitled (3) - final - v2".
- Reviews should be structured. Vague feedback is hard to act on. Concrete scores and inline suggestions move a draft forward.
- Your voice stays yours. We suggest — you decide. Accept what helps, ignore what doesn't.
- Prompts have constraints. Word limits, essay types, and college-specific expectations should be visible while you write.
Who it's for
High school applicants, transfer students, and graduate school candidates working on Common App, Coalition, UC, supplemental, and statement-of-purpose essays. Anyone whose next draft deserves better than "looks good!" in the margin.
